The authentic Panama Hats are handmade in Ecuador with 100% toquilla straw. This fibre has a natural beige colour but with chemical process (washing, blenched with sulphur, and smoked), the artisans obtain an ivory white colour fibre. Then they collocate
it in carbon oven grill for 2 days until the fibre dry completely and begin the hand knitted. When they wish to obtain another colour instead of ivory white, they dye the fibres with colourings (approx. fifteen different colours) such as: yellow, pink, light blue, lilac, fuchsia, maroon, orange, green, black, brown among others. Then they need to aggregate other fabrication steps such as the beating with strong wood sticks to make softer the knitted and begin to give shape to the hat. Then they iron the hat with antique carbon irons in order to eliminate any wrinkle. Finally they use scissors or knifes to cut the excess of fibres missed in the edges of the panama hat.
The cost of the hat depending of its finest: thought more stiches has the hat, more time the artisan take in knitted and it is more expensive. All the models that you observe in our catalogue we can sale by orders of one unit, dozen and hundreds. Also we offer different prices depending the finest of the hat.
